Coronavirus & Dentistry

The Practice is currently open.

We are prioritising patients who require emergency dental care.

Further to the most recent update regarding COVID-19, you will be aware that most of the remaining restrictions were lifted in England from Monday 19th July 2021.  We remain to be fully operational offering all face to face services as usual.

However, the regulation regards the wearing of face masks being voluntary will not apply to healthcare settings, in keeping with guidance from England's Chief Nursing Officer.

In line with our policies and to keep our patients, visitors and staff safe, we ask that all who attend the practice continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing during their appointment, except when seated in the patient chair during treatment.

At Burnham Dental Practice, we believe in putting the health and safety of our dental team and patients first and have always adopted the most cautious approach regarding government and health officials’ recommendations in response to the pandemic.

We thank you all for your understanding and patience as we work diligently to protect the health and safety of our patients and dental team during these challenging times.

In line with government guidelines and recommendations changes have been made to the practice.

These include:

  • Our practice will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions and you’ll be asked those same questions again at your appointment before coming into the surgery.

  • Any necessary forms will be sent to you via email to complete and return to us before your appointment.

  • You are asked to attend at your exact appointment time, and for those who do attend a little early weather permitting you will be asked to stay outside.

  •  We have hand sanitiser that we will ask you to use when you enter the practice.

  • Patients should come wearing a mask if possible or be prepared to wear one on entering.

  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. There will be less patients at the surgery at any one time.

  • Patients are asked to attend on their own whenever possible, and with minimal bags and other items. Children under 16 are allowed one accompanying adult and no siblings.

  • Medical history forms and NHS forms will all be sent to patients in advance via computer.

  • All bookings of appointments will be done via phone or email, and not by walking into the surgery.

  • Toilets will be temporarily closed to patients, and we are asking you to brush your teeth at home.

How you can help:

  • A distance of at least 2 meters mush be observed if another patient is present in the dental practice.

  • Bring minimal personal possessions to your appointments e.g. limited bags and coats.

  • Payment should be made by contact-less card where possible.

  • If you have a continuous cough, temperature or change in smell or taste, then please do not attend the surgery, and rearrange your appointment with us.

  • Please follow our Facebook and Instagram which we regularly update as guidance is updated.

We remain committed to providing high quality dental care to our patients, in a safe environment and we thank you for all your continued support.

We are expecting lots of phone calls and would prefer and ask that if you require an appointment that you contact us via email or use the website contact form so we can arrange this for you as soon as possible.

When contacting, please can you let us know the following information:

  • What kind of appointment you require

  • If this is urgent, i.e. you are in pain or have a broken tooth

  • Your contact details

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards

Advice during this pandemic

  • Use a fluoride toothpaste twice a day

  • Brush with an electric toothbrush twice a day

  • Don't forget to floss! It's important to use inter-dental aids as 40% of the surface of your tooth is inaccessible to a normal toothbrush

  • Follow a low sugar diet to help keep your teeth healthy

  • Try following the 3:2 rule. This means 3 meals, 2 snacks and only water in between.
