The Enlighten System entails collaboration between our dentist and patients. Here is how the procedure works.

​

• The patient will undergo an initial consultation that will assess the condition of his or her discoloured teeth.

• After assessment, the patient will apply a whitening gel for two weeks.

• The patient comes back to our practice for a comprehensive cleaning and a forty-minute application of a concentrated gel.

Our teeth whitening procedure can last for six months, depending on the lifestyle and eating habits of the patient. The original stained colour, however, is unlikely to return.

How many appointments will I need?

​

You’ll have your Enlighten consultation initially, coming back two weeks later to collect your home whitening kits. For the next two weeks, you follow the instructions contained in your Enlighten package and then returning for a one-hour in-surgery whitening appointment.

​

How does this work?

​

No local anaesthetic is required. You won’t feel any discomfort or pain from your treatment.

​

You’ll work with a fully qualified dentist or dental assistant throughout the process.

​

At the consultation, we’ll check to make sure that the Enlighten system is suitable for you. We’re there to explain the system, how it works, and to find out exactly what it is you want to achieve.

​

If you and your dentist agree that this is the treatment for you we’ll take an impression of your teeth. We’ll then send that off to Enlighten’s dedicated and state-of-the-art laboratory. The technicians there will produce a set of custom-made and super-sealed whitening trays.

​

Over the course of 14 days, you use these trays to begin the home whitening process using the Enlighten teeth whitening gel.

​

Finally, you visit us again at Burnham Dental Practice for a one-hour long in-surgery whitening treatment

Is this safe?

​

Yes. It’s completely safe and produces what we consider to be amazingly natural-looking results. Enlighten whitening treatment works straight through the enamel and does not harm the tooth surface, although you may have sensitivity as a side-affect from this product.

How long before I need a top-up?

​

Results can last indefinitely with very simple maintenance and top-ups.
